"Fair Game," with Doug Liman on Hollywood & the CIA

The CIA figures prominently in several of director Doug Liman's movies, as well as his TV series Covert Affairs. Join us for a screening of Fair Game, a taut and gripping docudrama, based on events in the lives of CIA operative Valerie Plame and her husband Joe Wilson, a former career diplomat. When Wilson was sent to Niger by the CIA to verify White House claims that the African state of Niger had been selling yellowcake to Iraq, he concluded the intelligence was false. When he dared to challenge publicly the Bush administration's facts, his wife was outed as a spy and her identity leaked to a Washington Post columnist. The movie focuses on the couple's struggle to save their careers, reputations and marriage.

In the 1990s, Tom Shadyac became one of the most successful filmmakers in Hollywood with a slew of comedic hits to his credit. His life then took a dramatic turn. While recovering from a debilitating bike accident, he experienced a spiritual awakening, which led him to sell his mansion, give away all his worldly goods and take up residence in a trailer park. Shadyac's newest film, I Am, documents his search for what is wrong with the world and how we can make it better. For answers, he visited many countries and met with a wide variety of philosophers and truth-seekers from the worlds of science, philosophy and faith.Join us for a fascinating movie and discussion!

Three-time Emmy Award-winner Stephen Colbert is a political satirist, writer, comedian and host of one of Comedy Central's highest rated series, The Colbert Report, where he takes on the persona of a conservative political pundit. The show was awarded the coveted Peabody Award two years ago. First introduced to a wide audience on the popular "fake news" series, The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, Colbert is the author of I Am America (And So Can You!) which climbed to No. 1 on the NY Times Best Seller list.
