Institute for Human Studies Internship

This opportunity from MCA Senior Kyle Helm --

IHS offers free-market journalism internships at daily newspapers and major media outlets across the country. Placements are available for spring, summer, fall, and provide a stipend, housing allowance, and travel allowance. The deadline to apply for summer placement is January 31. For more information, please visit www.theihs.org/journalism.

Newspaper & Print track: Interns are placed at daily newspapers across the country and participate in an opening career-building workshop. The internship offers real reporting assignments -- interns this summer averaged 30 clips.

Broadcast Journalism track: Broadcast Journalism internships offer hands-on internships at major media networks or news production houses. Last year we sponsored internships at CNN in Atlanta, ABC's "20/20" in Manhattan, and Fox News in Los Angeles, among others.

The Institute for Humane Studies also offers a free summer workshop specifically for student journalists interested in career advice and expanding their analytical tools and skills. Journalism & the Free Society will be held June 6-12 at Bryn Mawr College near Philadelphia. This workshop offers the opportunity to interact with top scholars and network with journalists and media professionals in a weeklong series of sessions on nuts-and-bolts reporting practices broader philosophical explorations of media and information issues, career development, and social camaraderie.
