CCNY Branding Contests: Build Your Portfolio, Develop Corporate Identity & Advocacy Campaigns

Branding Contest for a Green CCNY
Name the Initiative. Come up with a Tag Line.
Create a Logo. Win a Nano.

Deadline EXTENDED until March 24!

Background: CUNY has created a university-wide "Task Force on Sustainability" and asked each CUNY school to establish a sustainability team for developing a 10-Year plan by spring 2008. City College's responsibilities will be to construct, retrofit and maintain more sustainable and green facilities, integrate sustainability into the curriculum, support research and partner with civic and business leaders to promote economic development opportunities.

In order to galvanize the entire City College community, the administration would like to brand the initiative through the creation of a dynamic, yet descriptive name, a motivational tag line and iconic logo.

Communication Objective: to establish that City College is committed to making the campus more sustainable and environmentally friendly.

Specs: Text Component: 1) Names of the initiative should include CCNY (or "City College") and be 2-3 words long. 2) Tag Lines shoudl be no more than 5 words long and can be submitted independent of or connected to name submissions.

Art Component: The winning design will ultimately be used in a variety of vehicles, including stationery, websites, business cards, etc. Therefore, it must have impact when it is a small element on the page or reduced to black & white. You must submit both a hard copy on high quality paper aws well as a CD that includes versions of your logo formatted as follows:

All logo designs must be in vector format, and may not include any raster based elements. This means your logo designs should generally be created in either Illlustrator, Fireworks or Flash. Once finished designing, all vector logos should be delivered in both their original program format (.AI, .PSD., .FLA, .CDR, etc.) and as a .EPS file. EPS is an industry standard, meaning "Encapsulated PostScript". It can be imported into all major design programs, and is often the file of choice for many printing companies. No third-party images may be used in log designs. Also please incldue one 300 dpi version of your logo as a .jpg. Please see Prof. Tag with any software or format questions.

Submission Deadlines & Notification Deadates: Submit your entry to Prof. Lynn Appelbaum, Shepard 472 by 4 PM Monday, March 24. Finalists will be announced the following week; winning name(s) and logo will be announced soon thereafter.
