Donate Your “Gently Worn” Coats During Annual NY Cares Coat Drive

CCNY MCA Alum Alberthe Gachette, Principal, MMHighlights, has partnered with her former employer, Sean John 5th Avenue, for this year's NY Cares Coat Drive.

Students, faculty and staff can drop off coats throughout November at Sean John’s flagship Fifth Avenue store at the corner of 41^st Street. Coat donors will receive discounts for store purchases.

Aside from the flagship store, Alberthe is working on drop-off sites at CCNY’s Towers residential dorm and Brooklyn Technical High School. MCA students interested in donating coats may leave them in Prof. Lynne Scott Jackson’s office (#466 near faculty mailboxes) Mon & Wed, between 2:30 – 3:30 PM if you cannot make it to The Towers between classes.

According to Alberthe, “The Sean John / MM Highlights partnership not only aids in expand the reach of my new blog, but will also increase traffic for the Sean John 5^th Avenue location. Followers of both ventures are eclectic and diverse in their tastes. However, like the Sean John consumer, those who visit and post to MMHighlights represent a style that can go from the ‘boardroom to the block.’ ”

MM Highlights is a relatively new blog conceived in July 2008. Over the past 3 months, www.mmhighlights.com received over 5,000 hits and has nearly 2,000 email subscribers. Using talents honed during her years as an MCA major, Alberthe convinced Sean Jean’s Director of Retail Operations Jacole Saulsberry to feature the coat drive on the blog as well as market it as a Facebook Event, a new turn for the company. Saulsberry says, “We want to reach a younger audience; they’re all on Facebook!”
