First PRSSA General Interest Meeting Thursday, Sept. 11

By Natalee Facey and Antoniette Pemberton

The
Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) is a student run organization that provides aspiring PR practitioners with knowledge of the field and hands-on experience, through fundraising, activities/events, community service and professional planning.

Our first general interest meeting will be held during club hours Thursday Sept. 11. For the latest news and meeting information check out our blog at http://ccnyprssa.blogspot.com.

In
joining the PRSSA you receive the benefits of working with other CCNY clubs. Last semester, students worked with the Ghanaian Students Association, to raise awareness about malaria. Membership also offers exclusive internship and scholarship opportunities, access to PRSA career events and PRSA Tactics, a monthly trade newspaper free ($10 value), as well as the opportunity to work with companies as a student-run firm.

"This semester is a terrific time to join as we have so many exciting upcoming events,” said PRSSA President Natalee Facey.

“October is career and major’s month and we will kick off the month with a great event,” says Natalee. “We’ve teamed up with the American Advertising Federation’s (AAF) student club and will host a ‘Creative Careers in Interactive Advertising,’ a forum featuring representatives from Facebook, Ogilvy & Mather, Universal McCann Worldwide and Carat. Even more exciting is our annual ‘Building Bridges’ event, where students network with alumni in the communications field and learn of their experiences,” she continued.

According to PRSSA Vice President Antoniette Pemberton, "PRSSA is an excellent way to apply what you have learned in the classroom to real world situations or gain knowledge if you’re a non-MCA major curious about the profession. It’s a lifetime network.”

If you're interested in joining PRSSA, please see Prof. Lynn Appelbaum or email ccnyprssa@gmail.com, Natalee Facey, ntlfacey@yahoo.com or Antoniette Pemberton, anbrbri699@aol.com.
